Paul Forkardt, then working as an engineer, obtained the patent
no. 365241 on 10th August for his invention of the wedge block chuck. |

On 3rd Febuary Paul Forkardt founded the Paul Forkardt Company in Duesseldorf.
The Companys' main purpose: solving of problems in workholding technology and to
offer a qualified chucking program to the markets.

Certified, licensed manufacturers were retained to produce FORKARDT chucks.
With this unconventional method, a cooperating network is soon established with the common goal of achieving
highest efficiency and flexibility. A form of organization, that is still beneficial to FORKARDT and its customers today.
All patents prior to 1924 led to the architypical FORKARDT-chuck of the time, which was known as U-type.
Until 1947 it was the core product of FORKARDTs' standard sales programme.
